Sorts of work

I work in a small number of ways, chosen to suit the context and the people involved. In all cases, the emphasis is on clarity, judgement and thoughtful action.

One-to-one mentoring and trusted counsel

I work confidentially with senior leaders, chairs and non-executive directors who want space to think clearly and test judgement in demanding roles.

This work provides:

  • a place to reflect honestly

  • support with difficult decisions and conversations

  • challenge offered with care and discretion

Relationships are typically ongoing rather than time-limited, allowing trust, continuity and depth to develop.

Advisory and consulting engagements

I undertake short, focused advisory engagements, often at moments of transition, strain or uncertainty.

This might include work around:

  • leadership or succession

  • governance and board effectiveness

  • organisational clarity following change or challenge

  • complex or contested decisions

Engagements are usually agreed on a project basis and shaped as the work develops, rather than fixed in advance.

Board and senior team work

I work with boards, trustees and senior leadership teams in small-group settings where judgement, trust and collective responsibility matter.

This work may involve facilitated discussion, structured reflection or challenge at key moments, and is always tailored to the maturity and culture of the group.

A note on fit

I keep my practice deliberately small and am selective about the work I take on. I will always be open if I am not the right person to help, and equally honest when I believe the work could be useful.
